Championing the next generation of female leaders in the construction industry
MPA is proud to have collaborated with NAWIC to support women in the property and construction industry for nearly 20 years. Not only have we been the sponsors of the Fitout and Construction Award for over a decade and the International Women’s Day scholarship since its inception in 2010, but our history goes deeper with Sarah Hogan, our Director – Client Relations, having been involved with NAWIC for over 15 years as our longest-standing NSW President over five consecutive terms and five years as NSW Chapter Awards Chair.
With the strengthening of our relationship over the years, it gives MPA great pride to be sponsoring the 2024 NAWIC IWD High Tea.
“At MPA we understand that we need the support of people and organisations across the industry, so working with NAWIC for International Women’s Day is the perfect fit given our history and alignment,” says Sarah.
“NAWIC’s core purpose to promote and improve the advancement of women in the industry was the reason that during my tenure as President I introduced the mentor program. With the aim to increase participation, the sharing of knowledge, and engagement levels for women across industry, it’s heartening to see such programs go from strength to strength and similar initiatives pop up across organisations.”
Having recently launched our own Emerging Leaders program at MPA, all about mentoring the leaders of tomorrow, and a Build U Development Program to support career development, we are thrilled to have Shehani Weragama, Project Engineer, attend the upcoming NAWIC IWD High Tea as a speaker.
“Having the support of leaders like Sarah, and being part of a business that fosters mentoring, supports you to be your very best and pushes you to embrace the vibrancy of the construction world,” says Shehani.
“I’ve found it to be particularly motivating seeing my peers encourage and champion more females to enter the industry.”
