MPA Hosts Inspiring Lunch with a Leader: Insights from Sarah Hogan and Rob Caslick of Two Good Co.

On Tuesday 12th November, MPA had the privilege of hosting the final "Lunch with Leaders" session for 2024 in collaboration with the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC), featuring Sarah Hogan from MPA and Rob Caslick from Two Good Co. The event brought together industry leaders, NAWIC members, and MPA team members for an afternoon filled with authentic discussions on partnership, career journeys, and making an impact through work.

Attendees engaged through introductions and conversations, creating a warm atmosphere. Sarah and Rob shared their inspiring career stories, shedding light on their paths to success.

An Authentic Partnership Rooted in Shared Values

After enjoying lunch prepared by the women employed by Two Good Co., Rob and Sarah answered questions from the group. During their discussion, they spoke candidly about the authenticity that defines their partnership. Rob emphasised the importance of aligning values, stating, "One reason our relationship is so strong is authenticity—people can sense when values align, and the message resonates throughout the organisation. It’s not just a partnership with MPA; it’s a shared mission."

Sarah expanded on this idea, stressing that authenticity is crucial for creating a lasting impact: "You shouldn’t do things simply because you think you should; you need to act on what you genuinely believe in. People will join you on the journey if they feel the same way."

Creating Social Impact Through Industry Engagement

A significant portion of the discussion focused on how MPA and Two Good Co. integrate social responsibility into their operations. Sarah explained how MPA utilises its network in the construction industry to create broader awareness on issues like domestic violence. "When we win a big project, we want to share the love and create awareness. By hosting breakfasts with consultants, clients, and subcontractors, we ensure that we’re reaching everyone in the construction industry," she said, reflecting MPA's commitment to impactful outreach.

Rob echoed this sentiment, emphasising the potential for change when businesses leverage their networks for good. He spoke about the importance of finding "your tribe" and aligning with those who share a similar vision for impact.

Insights on Leadership and Career Development

Sarah and Rob shared valuable career advice with attendees. Rob reflected on the power of starting small, noting how Two Good Co. began with "jars of soup" before evolving into a significant social enterprise. "People can have great ideas, but acting on them is what brings real impact," he said.

Sarah shared her journey in the construction industry and encouraged attendees to pursue what makes them happy, saying, “Once you take those baby steps, you’ll find the path forward.” She inspired guests to bring passion and authenticity to their work.

A Focus on Connection and Community

As the conversation concluded, Sarah emphasised the significance of human connection in the workplace, noting that people crave spaces to gather and collaborate. This insight resonated with attendees eager to foster meaningful relationships in their industry. Hosted alongside NAWIC and Two Good Co., the event provided a platform for authentic discussions and reinforced MPA’s commitment to a supportive, impact-driven industry.
