At MPA, our commitment to sustainability doesn’t stand still. Since launching our Sustainability Focus Areas and Targets, we have been committed to making meaningful, measurable progress in our Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives.

Sustainability is a journey, and each milestone we achieve brings us closer to a more responsible and resilient future.

As we reflect on our progress so far, we are proud to share some key achievements in the past year that demonstrate our dedication to positive environmental and social impact.

Setting the roadmap for a sustainable future

At the close of FY2024, we conducted a thorough assessment of our ESG performance. This enabled us to identify our baseline environmental and social impact while evaluating our governance standards. Using these insights, we set ambitious targets and a clear roadmap to guide our actions moving forward.

Caring for the environment

We recognise our responsibility to reduce our environmental impact and assist our partners and clients in doing the same. Over the past year, we have:

  • Implemented 1breadcrumb across our sites, reducing paper usage by 87%

  • Established live tracking of waste across all projects, achieving a 90% waste diversion rate.

  • Transitioned all office locations to renewable energy sources.

  • Trained Green Star professionals to embed sustainability best practices into our projects.

  • Signed up for CitySwitch, reinforcing our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint in office-based environments.

Building meaningful partnerships

Sustainability is about people as much as it is about the planet. Over the past year, we have strengthened our commitment to our people, subcontractors, and communities by:

  • Conducting Learning Labs to upskill our teams and raise awareness about sustainability

  • Successfully achieving WRK+ Great Workplace Accreditation, reinforcing our commitment to creating an inclusive, positive workplace

  • Continuing our partnerships with community organisations to drive lasting social impact

  • Supporting our employees and subcontractors and their families through joining Lifestreet, our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and partnered with Black Dog Institute to champion workplace mental health.

Strengthening governance & trust

A strong governance framework and diligent business processes are crucial for a responsible business. In the past year we have:

  • Digitised our Modern Slavery risk management system by implementing Inform365, ensuring automated and transparent supply chain oversight

  • Improved our Ecovadis rating from Bronze to Silver, placing us in the top 15% of companies assessed
