32 Carrington St, Level 8 - April Group Speculative Suite
Just a short walk from Wynyard Station in Sydney, is Lisgar House, a 1920’s heritage building, adjacent to Brookfield Place. April Group engaged MPA for an extension project and fitout of one of the 8 office floors, building a workplace that is both functional and beautiful.
To transform this space, making it more valuable to potential tenants, existing structures were demolished, and we extended the floor plate over the balcony, building 3 new rooms: 2 private offices and a boardroom. On top of this, the existing space was entirely refreshed, with 12 workstations, a wall of joinery that provides storage and maximises space efficiency and a kitchenette.
The fitout and extension project at Lisgar House presented unique logistical and structural challenges due to the building's small footprint, absence of a loading dock, and heritage constraints. To successfully deliver the project, a bespoke construction methodology was developed to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant execution.
We successfully collaborated with scaffolders, riggers and engineers to develop a bespoke scaffold and hoist system, ensuring safe and efficient materials handling, bringing all bulky items into the space in a single day, with no crane. This methodology sets a new industry benchmark, leaving a legacy for future fitouts with smaller floor plates in busy CBD locations with restricted access to the building. This transformation of space for the April group has delivered a premium result to attract tenants, within budget and on time.
