Working with global law firm Ashurst, we have delivered a sophisticated and progressive workplace at 39 Martin Place, Sydney – one of the city’s most prestigious addresses.
Ashurst
This move signifies Ashurst's commitment to providing an exceptional experience for the firm's people and clients. Spanning eight interconnected floors, this space redefines the legal workplace by seamlessly integrating collaboration, agile working, and premium client engagement.
Michael Blitz, Ashurst’s Global Director of Workplace, shared: "Working with MPA has enabled us to realise our vision — a flexible, sustainable, and collaborative workplace in Sydney. Our new workplace represents our commitment to our people, our clients, and how we want to work as a business, now and into the future."
A genuine workplace of the future, this space has the functionality to support Ashurst’s evolving business needs. The five working floors are designed for efficiency and engagement, catering to different working styles. The light filled floors feature a mix of sit/stand workstations, breakout spaces, tech-enabled meeting rooms, focus pods and rooms, and drop-in benches. Level 4 hosts a collaborative space, fostering creativity and adaptability, featuring flexible project spaces with operable walls that can be reconfigured on demand. Meanwhile, the interconnecting internal staircases create fluid movement throughout the workspace, strengthening connectivity across floors and teams.
On Level 8, a premium client floor sets a new standard for legal professionalism. The floor features a refined reception area, boardrooms, and event spaces that transform seamlessly to multi capacity meeting rooms, each equipped with hearing loops to ensure accessibility. The Level 9 outdoor terrace and cafe offers a sophisticated yet relaxed atmosphere for staff, clients and visitors to enjoy.
With a clear vision for sustainability and environmental responsibility, the project aligns with Ashurst’s sustainability goals –tracking and reporting on multiple live sustainability goals and finishing the project achieving a 96% waste diversion from landfill.
The construction of this new building was executed with a proactive, detailed and collaborative approach. From the very first day on-site, the team worked closely with Investa, identifying potential issues before they arose, fostering a relationship of transparency and trust.
Multiple workshops were engaged in the prototyping and fabrication of joinery elements, including cupboards, wall panels, and ceilings. This process allowed for rigorous quality control, material testing, and refinement before full-scale production to ensure precision, durability, and seamless integration within the final fitout.
We have helped Ashurst create not just an office, but a future-ready legal workplace that is designed to lead the industry for years to come.
