Expanding their Sydney workplace, MPA was engaged to bring an adaptable and unique coworking space to life.

The Great Room

At the heart of many of the world’s finest homes lies “The Great Room,” a space where conversation flows and ideas ignite. Bringing this ethos into the workplace, from quiet contemplation to lively networking events, The Great Room on Level 23 offers a transformative coworking experience.

The Great Room envisioned a multifunctional coworking space that combined the efficiency of a shared office with the sophistication of a high-end hospitality experience. From dynamic meeting rooms to quiet zones for focus and reflection, the brief required a space for diverse work styles and needs. Their lounge area flows into the Studio, a multifunctional meeting room with an operable wall, offering flexibility for both large conferences and intimate gatherings, ideal for Sydney's evolving workforce.

The detailed finishes create a cohesive aesthetic, emphasising elegance and attention to detail. Shared spaces, including a communal pantry, kitchen, and lounge area, reflect the client’s commitment to creating a collaborative and inclusive environment.

We addressed the unique requirements of this coworking space by facilitating site tours for prospective tenants prior to delivering the completed project. These tours showcased the vision behind the project and generated excitement about the dynamic, high-end environment being created on Level 23.

Delivering The Great Room's vision required careful planning and problem-solving, particularly around noise management. MPA worked closely with Scentre Group, The Great Room team, and building management to implement solutions like temporary acoustic rooms with specialised insulation, thick barriers to absorb vibrations, and rigorous noise testing. Additional site managers and a workforce of over 40 tradespeople ensured compliance with noise restrictions and kept the project on schedule, with noisy works carefully planned for weekends and evenings. This collaborative effort ensured that the project was delivered without disruptions—a testament to the dedication of the entire construction team.
