Leading international project advisory firm WT engaged us to deliver their new workplace. It was a significant decision to move into 1 Bligh St, a premium Dexus building

WT new workplace

It’s a relationship built over time, and one where we understood how to translate their evolving business needs into a space that works hard for their people.

Close collaboration with the broader consultant and project team was critical to the success of the project, ensuring alignment from early design through to delivery, and enabling a seamless outcome that reflects both the client’s vision and the building’s premium positioning.

This project is a contemporary evolution of the office we delivered for WT a decade ago. Group GSA’s thoughtful design reflects how WT has grown, how their culture has shifted, and what they need from their workplace today.

At its centre sits a feature tree inspired by Indigenous artwork commissioned through WT’s Reconciliation Action Plan. It anchors the space both physically and culturally, drawing people together while responding to the building’s unique architecture through soft curves and layered textures.

A flexible town hall sits alongside this, defined by a curved screen element and supported by movable furniture. It is designed to flex between town halls, team connection and informal moments without compromise.

Materiality plays a key role in how the space feels. Exposed concrete, timber and a layered palette of finishes sit over a raised access floor, while low-level integrated lighting brings warmth and consistency across the workplace.

The planning prioritises connection. A seamless transition between front and back of house creates a workplace that feels open, intuitive and welcoming. Hot-desking removes fixed ownership of space, encouraging movement, collaboration and day-to-day adaptability.

Natural materials underpin the design. Bamboo is used extensively, most notably through Assemble Studio’s modular partition system, locally designed and manufactured from engineered bamboo plywood and Australian plantation hoop pine veneer. This carries through joinery, workstations and shared spaces, creating a consistent and grounded material language.

Working within a live building added complexity. The glazed façade and central atrium required careful staging of works, while latent conditions, including the relocation of major services, were resolved through smart integration into the central feature tree.

The result is a workplace that feels considered, connected and ready for how WT works today, delivered for a long-time partner we know well.
